Fear…Friend or Foe?

So, which is it for you?  Is your fear something that becomes a roadblock to your dreams?  Or, is your fear a friend that helps get you to the next level and discover even more about yourself?  Either way, YOU get to decide, and that is where things get really exciting!

“That’s ridiculous! How the heck can fear be my friend?”

Well, I am glad you asked.  All of the emotions that we would consider “negative” or “undesirable” are really there to help us move forward.  We are here having a human experience.  We can’t deny these emotions, but we can certainly decide how we want to use them.  The best part is; we always get to decide!

You see, many of the emotions that we feel during our day are based on fear.  Anger, frustration, sadness, anxiety, depression, all have deep roots in fear.  They remind us that we have lost touch with our authentic power.  So many of us have never even really felt how powerful we truly are!  This is something I hope to change for as many Brilliant Beings as I can.

Try this.  The next time you are experiencing an emotion that you would label “unpleasant”, pause:

  • Correct your internal dialogue: You are not “sad”. You feel “sad”.  YOU are way more than one mere emotion.
  • Take a few deep conscious breaths. Realize this emotion is a reminder to pay attention.  It is really there to help you get back into flow.
  • Ask yourself: “What is the underlying fear?” “What am I really afraid of?”
  • Breathe, let the answer come.
  • When it does, smile (even if it is through tears). You have just found a limiting belief that has been holding you back.
  • Shine the light of knowing on this limiting belief. You are a Brilliant Being whose gifts are needed in this world.  Connect with your authentic power.

Be gentle with yourself through this process.  Don’t let fear hold you back from trying this over and over.  It may take time to develop trust in your Brilliant Being, but it will come.  You may even discover a whole new you!

Feel free to contact me with your questions, or if you find yourself needing more guidance.  I have a very simple exercise I use to help clients connect with the authentic power of their center, their magnificent Brilliant Being.  You are closer than you think, and you don’t have to go it alone.
